NEED TO KNOW

  • Early gifts: The Celtics could have two more key players back in action. Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart have been out with injuries but their return in imminent and both may play.
  • Holiday first: It is, of course, the first Christmas Day NBA game ever in Toronto and just the second time the Raptors have played on the holiday. Boston will be playing its 33rd Christmas Day game.
  • Home cooking: A Toronto-Boston game usually means good things for the home teams. The Raptors have won the last eight meetings in Toronto; the Celtics have won six in a row over Toronto in Boston.
